They're here!!! I'm not ugly crying (anymore...)

All TWENTY boxes of books have arrived safely and soundly at my house!

I am currently in the process of sorting and counting them all. Are the covers shelf-worthy? Do the pages line up well? Are there fingerprints or ink smudges from the printers? These are some of the criteria I used to sort the books by quality. About 2/3 are good, shelf-worthy, distraction-free books. The remaining are split between non-shelf-worthy but otherwise distraction free and shelf-worthy but with distracting defects on one or two inside pages. A small handful have multiple imperfections.

This was a necessary first step, so that I can contact the printer if there are any serious issues. It's also the only thing I can do while completely snowed in this weekend!

I promise I will let you know the minute books are ready to ship :)

This update is long overdue!

Mid-December, I received an update from the printer that the printing had been completed and the books were ready to be shipped overseas. They told me it would be 6-8 weeks before I heard anything more, so I've been nervously waiting and praying for those books to make it safely to the US. I have sold books as a UBAM/PaperPie consultant in the past, so I know there is a risk of crates being lost at sea or boats getting stuck in canals.

Much to my relief and excitement, I have received another email from the printer with a tracking number for UPS! The books have made it to the States and they are scheduled to arrive on Friday afternoon—THREE days from now!!

This week, my family will be making room in our home to receive the 20 boxes of books that UPS will be leaving in our driveway. I'll also be working on setting up my website to take book orders. This weekend, I'll be packing up books for you all so I can drop them off at the post office early next week.

I will be having a book launch party in the near future and will let you all know once I have a date and location set!

It's off to the presses!

I've been posting periodic project updates on Instagram and Facebook, but wanted to take a minute to send out a special update to those of you who helped fund this project: I'll Meet You Where You Are is heading for production!

I am amazed, truly amazed, that I'll Meet You Where You Are received the support needed to go to print. I asked and you answered. I cried and laughed but mostly felt total disbelief when the project reached its goal for hardcover printing. Thank you so much!

I've spent the past ten days working with the printer through the prepress process—uploading my artwork, resolving issues found in the proofs, talking through the risks of production and what the printer can do if what I want doesn't work. I received the final proof yesterday. There were no issues to resolve. With a little lump in my throat, I clicked a big red button labeled "Approve". My heart leapt when a message appeared saying I'll Meet You Where You Are was off to the press.

It will be several weeks before printing is complete and the books arrive from China. Please be in prayer about that process. The books will likely be shipped to the US by boat, and anything can happen.

Belonging is a basic human need. There is no shame in wanting to be seen and heard, valued and respected. We were made to love and be loved.

I'll Meet You Where You Are was written for children (and children at heart) desperate to feel wanted, afraid of being forgotten or abandoned. It's validation of their struggles and worries and a promise to be faithful and steadfast in hard times. It's a celebration of simple acts of kindness that can make a world of difference. It's encouragement for those who sacrifice much for the sake of loving another and a reminder that none of us is ever truly alone.

I'll Meet You Where You Are is what I want for myself and my children, for our family and our community. It's the gospel of Jesus demonstrated over and over in everyday life. It's the reason I have hope for tomorrow.
